Agesci - Gruppo Scout Trezzo sull'Adda

Presentation of the association:
The purpose of this association is to provide an educational path to boys and girls aged 8 to 21 years, through the use of the scout method. Every community, formed by adult volunteers and by the priest, draws up an educational project in agreement with the values chosen by the AGESCI for each of the three age groups:
  • children aged 8 to 12 years (cubs/ladybugs)
  • boys and girls aged 12 to 16 years (scouts/guides)
  • young people aged 16 to 21 years (rover/guards)

Common life, autonomy, competence, optimism and making important choices are some of the “ingredients“ of this path.
The activities are organised throughout the school year and are held at the seat in Trezzo or off-site (monthly trips): during holidays camps are organized. Number of members: 80 boys and girls, 10 chiefs and an ecclesiastical assistant.

Who we are:
The foundation “Aiutiamoli a Vivere“ is primarily dedicated to children and people of Belarus which is the most affected country by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. In recent years, the worsening socio-economic situation has made it harder for population, and in particular for children, to live. Leukemia, diseases of the eye and the thyroid and cases of abandonment are rapidly increasing.
What we do:
The foundation hosts about 5,000 children a year; a stay of 4 weeks in uncontaminated places reduces by about 50% the presence of some radionuclides in the blood. In addition, a complete and balanced diet strengthens the immune system of children. During the vacation, children play school activities with Belarusian teachers. This holiday is an experience of socialization that promotes the knowledge of different cultures through family life and meetings in school facilities. The institution is also strongly committed to developing some cooperation and support projects directly in the Belarusian territory, in particular: renovation of the poorest establishments, humanitarian aid (provision of food, clothing, personal hygiene, sanitary supplies), cooperation with hospitals and provision of special equipment for eye surgeries and dental cabinets (Biurokov, Sergio Gallia, mucoviscidosis projects).

This association has been operating in Trezzo sull'Adda since September 2012 and is formed of about 20 members. It is a network of volunteers and parents who design and implement interventions in aid of immigrant families. During its first year, it managed to offer a free course of Italian to 25 foreign women, mostly mothers of students of the comprehensive school.
Since October 2013, it has offered a literacy and study support service to approximately 20 primary school pupils. Its services are free of charge. Anyone willing to volunteer can send an email to associazioneapriti@gmail.com
